Clinical Trials
What are they?
Clinical Trials are the primary way that researchers find out if a new treatment, like a new drug or diet or medical device (for example, a pacemaker) is safe and effective in people. Often a clinical trial is used to learn if a new treatment is more effective and/or has less harmful side effects than the standard treatment.

Benefits of Participating In Clinical Trials
What's in it for me?
-
You may benefit from having tests, checks, and talks with your study doctor.
-
The information we get from you during the study may help you or other people with illnesses in the future.
-
By taking a more active role in your own health care, the results may also show that you have other illnesses that may not have been found if you did not take part in a study.
-
You may be compensated for your time involved in the study.
